Poetry in the times of Coronavirus!

3 месяца назад
Do you have a favourite English poem that translates well to this strange time in our lives?

I was studying There Will Come Soft Rains with my 7th grade class this week, which includes the poem of the same name by Sara Teasdale.

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
            And swallows calling with their shimmering sound;
            And frogs in the pools singing at night,
            And wild-plum trees in tremulous white;
            Robins will wear their feathery fire
            Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire
            And not one will know of the war, not one
            Will care at last when it is done.
            Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
            If mankind perished utterly;
            And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
            Would scarcely know that we were gone.

It had added relevance for us at the moment, given that human beings have had to retreat from our public lives a little and leave nature to it. I would love to hear any of your poetry recommendations! Poetry can really help us make sense of this crazy world.
