Обо мне

I have coached IELTS, Business English and General English to adults in Universities and Colleges in Vietnam for 20 years, where I was nicknamed the "IELTS TERMINATOR". I also was a teacher of TESOL to teachers who were learning how to teach ESL most of that time, and spent a year and a half in Malaysia as a state supervisor for a Malaysian government project up-skilling ESL teachers in primary and secondary schools.
I also have extensive experience in teaching on-line to Russian, Brazilian,Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and French adult students, and also to children from time to time.

I can speak German, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, basic French, a little Russian, some Bahasa Indonesia and Malay, and I have been fortunate to spend time travelling to many other countries and living in them, so I am aware of the problems students have in understanding both the English language, and western culture and customs..

Many of my teaching programs are the result of self authored programs which I also used in positions of teacher training and Director of ESL departments in a variety of Colleges and Universities, and these programs are still in use today.

My approach to teaching depends very much on the learner's requirements and ability, and all of my students report they like my interactive style and the fact I am considerate to their needs and abilities.I guess we could say my approach to language learning is one of guided self-discovery.

My qualifications include a PhD. and other qualifications, but for ESL purposes, my Advanced Professional TESOL Diploma has provided me with the strength of resources needed to do the job better than most.

My expectations of my students is high, and I am interested only in dealing with learners who are committed to success, so if that is not you, please don't ask me to help you.
