Hello! My name is Marla, I’m from Mexico. I studied Applied Linguistics for Bilingual Education at UANL. I have been an English teacher in my country for 9 years, I have also taught Spanish on individual lessons. It has been a great journey being an ESL and Spanish teacher, it gave me opportunities to meet new people, travel and do what I love.
I have worked at private and public schools in Mexico, mainly elementary, jr. high and high school levels, it has given me the opportunity of getting to know different contexts and ways of learning. During my years of experience I developed a set of abilities which are the ones allowing me to apply for this job today. Those abilities include being able to manage groups at different age levels, organizational skills for a variety of tasks, creating innovative proposals for new projects, leadership, teamwork, assertive communication skills and confidence. My experience has been mostly in ESL classroom as I worked as a teacher in private bilingual schools and public schools, both places provided me with different perspectives on how to teach language and it surely helped me to open myself to what it really is ESL learning.
In my classes, the student will find a dynamic and easy way to learn Spanish, students should feel comfortable enough to ask whenever they have doubts. At the beginning, we can discuss the objective the student has with language and create a program to reach that objective effectively, I consider it is an assertive way to get closer to the student’s goal. The resources and methodology are adapted to the students needs to be able to move forward on the language learning process.
My schedule is pretty flexible, so we can arrange something that works for both parts. I hope we can be part of this new learning experience soon. Thank you.
