My name is Charné, I am 29 years old and from Namibia.
I studied in South Africa, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in English and Philosophy and a Bachelor Honours Degree in Psychology. I also have an Advanced 160-Hour TEFL Certificate.
I have three years teaching experience, two years specifically as an English Teacher for students aged 13 - 19.
The work I did as a professional English teacher ranged from teaching the basic of English grammar, pronunciation, phonology to reading and writing at different levels and styles. I also helped prepare students for the Cambridge HIGCSE Exams in English, this includes writing in a professional and creative context, reading comprehensions and Literature and Prose.
I truly enjoy teaching and I love being able to help students grow and speak English more fluently and with confidence. My aim is to help individuals develop their ability to speak, read and write English. I want each student I teach to be able to comfortably and confident have a conversation in English on any topic they desire.
The teaching method I prefer is the Communicative Approach, where the focus is placed on meaningful communication. I feel the main aim is to help students be able to comfortably communicate outside of the classroom, to be able to communicate knowledge and opinions in English. Therefore, attempts to communicate are encouraged from the first lesson and activities presented help promote speaking by the students.
If your goal is to master the English language in a easy going, empathic, friendly and encouraging environment, I am the tutor for you.
