📌 How my lessons work:
Before our first lesson I will send you my comprehensive Needs Analysis which will assess your specific situation and requirements. Each lesson will then be tailored to you so that you can get the most out of your lessons. Our lessons will include an outline lesson plan and use a wide range of materials including many I have created myself. We will feedback at the end of each lesson to review your progress and ensure you stay on track. 'Homework' is also an option but not an obligation.
📌 My philosophy:
I believe you as a student are individual and important. I tailor my lessons to your specific needs; no two classes are the same. I believe language learning should focus on communication and have real world application. I don't believe there is any one 'best' approach to learning and so my lessons use a wide range of methodologies. My lessons cover all key skills (from speaking to writing) and this skills balance is always tailored to you. I believe learning should be fun and enjoyable. I also have a sense of humour and like to add a little British humour into my lessons.
📌 Highly qualified:
I hold three degrees: A Bachelor's (BA) degree, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. Also, I hold a Master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL), with British Council TEFL-Q Status. I passed my MA with a high Distinction grade. I am also an experienced examiner having marked exams for over five years. I hold the Cambridge Certificate in Assessment (CCCA). I have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (DBS) certificate for working with children under 18.
📌 Highly experienced:
I have over 11 years teaching experience. I have taught children and adults, across 10 different countries; in schools and universities. My teaching has consistently been assessed at 'Outstanding’ or ‘Distinction’ level. I have taught in: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. As Director of Studies, I have managed teams of teachers internationally. I also mentor university students for which the University of Kent awarded me 2017/18 Mentor of the Year.
📌 My interests:
Personally, I love drinking tea (black, with milk, naturally!) combined with any of the following: business, economics, entrepreneurship, probability/risk theory, stocks, philosophy, religion, politics, travel, writing and good food. For fun, I play board games, read classic literature and non-fiction, and enjoy pub quizzes. I love travel and culture and have travelled extensively around mainland Europe (taking plenty of photos along the way).
Say hello! 😊
