I have been teaching for about eight years in the UK, Spain and online. I have taught from A1 to C1 levels, ages from six to seventy-five. Much of my current work is focused on preparing students for Cambridge English qualifications (PET, FCE, CAE) and IELTS. During the summer I teach academic English at a British university, preparing predominantly Chinese students for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
I have the CELTA English teaching qualification from the University of Leicester, UK and a PTLLS (general teaching of adults) qualification. I regularly take part in British Council seminars and training events as part of my continuing professional development.
My approach to teaching is student centred. Teaching and learning is always co-operative and works best when goals are clear and established in collaboration with the student. For one-on-one classes I use materials that are specific to the student's needs and also to their interests when at all possible. I like my classes to be fun and enjoyable because learning is more effective when it is a positive experience in itself. I encourage honest feedback from students in order to improve my teaching and help learners towards their goals.
