****Temporarily unavailable. *** I will return on May 28, 2018.
Hello, I am passionate about teaching and am looking forward to having you as a student. I have taught students in pre-school, elementary school, middle school, and high school. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Milligan College. My areas of expertise are special education and ESL. I am currently pursuing a Master's in special education and ESL instruction.
My teaching style: I always teach from the perspective of my students.
My approach to language learning: I use TPR (Total Physical Response), an evidenced-based language-learning strategy along with differentiated instruction and specially designed instruction enhanced by visuals as well as the teaching and learning framework Universal Design for Learning (UDL) that incorporates individual learning styles as well as Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences.
My attendance policy: On the day a lesson is scheduled, I wait 15 minutes for the student. If the student does not attend class, within the first 15 minutes and does not give me a reason why he or she missed class, then I mark the lesson as completed and the student does not receive a 100% refund. If, however, the student gives me a valid reason as to why he or she missed my class, then I mark the lesson as completed and students will receive a 50% refund. If, a last minute emergency occurs, then please share with me what the emergency was so that I may re-schedule your lesson.
My technical difficulties policy: If students and I, as the teacher, have problems connecting via the Verbling platform and are unable to begin the lesson, then I generally re-set the lesson to re-schedule, but, let's say, for example, a student takes a lesson with me, and half-way through our 1 hour lesson, the student and I, as the teacher, experience technical difficulties that prevent the lesson from continuing, I will give the student a 50% refund for the 30 final minutes he/she was not able to participate in class due to technical difficulties. Therefore, just know that if technical difficulties occur while students are in a lesson with me, my policy is that I give all students a 50% refund if our lesson lasted at least 30 minutes or 45 minutes long. If students were unable to connect with me at the start of our lesson or if our lesson only lasted 10 minutes, 15 minutes, or 20 minutes, due to technical difficulties, then my policy is that I give all students a 100% refund.
Other policies for my students who are 12 years of age and older: It is your responsibility to message me if you cannot attend your lesson at the scheduled date and time. Please message me within 24 hours, no later than 12 hours if you are unable to attend your lesson; unless, of course, it is an absolute emergency (such as a medical emergency). If you need to cancel your lesson, for whatever, reason, then know that you automatically receive a 100% refund.
Other policies for the parents of students who are age 4-11: The policy that is in place for my students who are 12 years of age and older still stands except that the responsibility to message me is with the parents of these students rather than the students themselves. If parents need to cancel lessons, for whatever reason, for their children, then know that you automatically receive a 100% refund.
Regarding the courses listed on my profile: If you are viewing my teacher profile and are interested in any of my courses, then please simply click on the one you would like to purchase for yourself or your child. Once you click on a course, options will pop-up for you to choose the best option(s) for you. I do have a course specially designed for children, but many other other courses are available as well, as you will see when clicking on a course in which you have expressed interest.
Please know that I do my absolute best to accommodate all my students' learning needs regardless of age, and generally, students find me professional, patient, kind, and understanding. I look forward to getting to know you or your child (children).
