I’m a friendly, outgoing person who enjoys meeting new people and learning different experiences. My interests include music, film, sport, TV and news and current affairs.
I’ve recently completed the Trinity CertTESOL which I really enjoyed because it gave me valuable experience teaching in a classroom as well as learning an unknown language (Portuguese) which helped me empathise with those learning English.
My approach to language learning is to have a good balance of English practice. While it is important to be able to speak confidently, reading and writing is just as important and I will help and encourage you to work on all areas of English. I will also set homework so you can practice what you’ve learned as well as give you the opportunity to practice and improve your English in between classes.
I would describe my teaching style as firm, but friendly, and fair. I understand the need to have a positive environment where everyone is engaged, feels safe and comfortable but also being focused and maintaining discipline. I’m also patient, supportive and open to most types of discussion.
As part of my Trinity TESOL, I completed a learner profile on one of my students in my teaching practice where I did a full assessment of their English ability and conducted a one to one lesson with them based on their ability and reasons for learning English. Before starting our classes, I will do an assessment of your English ability to ensure any teaching materials I use in class are suitable according to your current ability and interests in learning English.
*NOTICE: PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING**
1. If you're interested in taking classes with me, send a message giving more detail about yourself and your interests.
2. I review my teaching schedule weekly, so be aware of this when booking lessons with me.
Our first class will entail a "getting to know you" warmer as well as assess your English level and see how I can help. At the end of the class, I will advise what is best for you and your English learning (e.g. having a structured General English class with me rather than a Conversation Practice).
